The Dutch Grand Prix winners list stretches back to the early years of the Formula 1 World Championship, with Alberto Ascari claiming the first points-paying edition at Zandvoort for Ferrari in 1952. The historic Dutch circuit has produced victories for some of the greatest drivers and teams in F1 history, with Lando Norris becoming the latest winner in 2026 for McLaren.
The Dutch Grand Prix returned to the Formula 1 World Championship in 2021 after a 36-year absence, having last been held in 1985. Zandvoort has always been the home of the event, although the circuit itself has undergone numerous changes over the decades. The race remains one of the most recognisable stops on the Formula 1 calendar.
Dutch Grand Prix history at Zandvoort
The first Dutch Grand Prix was held in 1950, although that edition did not count towards the Formula 1 World Championship. The first championship race took place two years later, in 1952, when Italian driver Alberto Ascari won for Ferrari.
Ascari repeated the achievement in 1953, beginning Ferrari’s long association with success at Zandvoort. Other Ferrari winners at the circuit include Wolfgang von Trips, Jacky Ickx, Niki Lauda, Didier Pironi and René Arnoux.
After disappearing from the championship following the 1985 race, the Dutch Grand Prix finally returned in 2021. Max Verstappen immediately established himself as the dominant driver of the new Zandvoort era, winning three consecutive editions between 2021 and 2023. McLaren then took over at the top, with Lando Norris winning in 2024, Oscar Piastri in 2025 and Norris returning to victory in 2026.

Ferrari’s victories in the Dutch Grand Prix
Ferrari has played a prominent role throughout the history of the Dutch Grand Prix. Alberto Ascari delivered the Scuderia’s first Zandvoort victory in the inaugural World Championship edition in 1952 before winning again the following year. Wolfgang von Trips added another Ferrari success in 1961, while Jacky Ickx won in 1971.
Niki Lauda triumphed for Ferrari in 1974 and 1977, with Didier Pironi and René Arnoux adding victories in 1982 and 1983 respectively. The Dutch Grand Prix therefore occupies a notable place in Ferrari’s Formula 1 history, spanning several generations of drivers and machinery.
Max Verstappen dominates after Zandvoort’s F1 return
When Formula 1 returned to Zandvoort in 2021, Max Verstappen won each of the first three races of the new era for Red Bull. His run ended in 2024 when Lando Norris gave McLaren victory, before Oscar Piastri won the following season.
Lando Norris then claimed the 2026 Dutch Grand Prix, adding another McLaren victory to the Zandvoort record books. The modern history of the race has therefore been dominated by Red Bull and McLaren since its return to the championship.
