At the end of the monring session of the second day of pre-season testing in Bahrain, Scuderia Ferrari Spanish driver Carlos Sainz took part in a short media session and answered various questions from the press which was present at the event in Sakhir. The main focus was on of course on Scuderia Ferrari’s progress ahead of the new Formula 1 season, the testing session in Bahrain, but also the TV series Drive to Survive which is now available on Netflix.
Here are some of the most important comments expressed by Carlos Sainz and reported by German automobile magazine Auto Motor und Sport.
On the situation of Ferrari
“It is still difficult to say where everyone is. It always depends on the conditions. If the temperatures drop slightly, the situation can vary by a few tenths. The same goes for the wind. We still have to work on porpoising. It could be seen that we have made some changes to the floor, but there is more to do. I hope everything is ready for next week’s race. The asphalt doesn’t offer as much grip here. Also, there are bumps and gusts of wind. This makes life difficult for us, but we expected it. If a car feels good in Barcelona, it means nothing.”
On 2022 Formula 1 car technology
“We were a little bit surprised that the cars are so different. We have wide sidepods, Mercedes hardly has any, in Red Bull the sidepods are heavily undercut. But that’s the beauty of Formula 1. Any fan can now see how the cars differ from each other.”
On Drive to Survive
“They exaggerated a bit when they portarited the rivalry between me and Lando (Norris, ed). Fans know that’s not true. But I think the production is smart enough to recognize the mistake and not do it again.”
