The Monaco GP introduced the mandatory double pit stop amid (many) drivers’ complaints: only Ferrari continues to break records even with this new rule. For a curious reason.
It has now become customary to consider a sort of “championship within the championship” among teams. We’re not just talking about the Constructors’ and Drivers’ titles, but another competition: the one for the fastest pit stops.
While Ferrari confirms itself as the fourth force on track, far from McLaren’s lead (which exceeds 300 points, as you can also see in this ranking), it can still boast of dominating the pit stop championship.
DHL compiles a ranking of the fastest pit stops each year, and at the moment the Maranello team is in the lead with 264 points. McLaren follows with 121 points, while Red Bull and Mercedes each have 92 points. Completing the top five, surprisingly, is Sauber with 84 points.
At the end of the year, the DHL Fastest Pit Stop Award is given to the team that achieved the best results in tire changes over the season. Since 2018, Red Bull has always won.
Here is the summary table with the ranking of the teams that have performed the best pit stops so far:

Specifically, at the Monaco GP, the fastest stop was that of Charles Leclerc: 2.00 seconds, while for Lewis Hamilton it was 2.08 seconds. In tenth place was Pierre Gasly’s stop, at “only” 2.44 seconds.
Here is the summary table with the 10 best pit stops of the Monaco Grand Prix:

The points are awarded using the same system as the Constructors’ Championship: 25 points for first place, 18 points for second, 15 for third, and so on down to tenth place.
Of course, the ranking is created by estimating all the stops made during the race, listing them from fastest to slowest.
