Canal+ recently broadcasted the documentary “Jean Todt, la méthode”. The docufilm traces the long and triumphant career of a motorsport legend, focusing in particular on his friendship with Michael Schumacher.
At the documentary screening, Michael’s wife, Corinna, did not miss the opportunity to pay tribute to the man who has always been there for her family.
Jean Todt is one of the few people in the world who can visit Michael Schumacher after his terrible accident, and is therefore among the very few to give some news on what many consider to be the greatest driver of all time, whose state of health after suffering a skiing accident in December 2013 has remained a great mystery. In one of his recent statements, after the Mexican Grand Prix, Jean Todt said:
“Michael is fighting, he keeps fighting and we can only hope that his condition improves. If Corinna is there, we have dinner together, otherwise I spend time with Michael but…”.
The two friends still share their passion for Formula One by watching races at the seven-time world champion’s home whenever possible. It is a daily support, a reassuring and indispensable presence for the Schumacher family.

Mick and Gina’s mother sent Jean Todt a loving message during one of her recent TV appearances: “We are very proud of you and very happy that you are part of our family. We love you.”
In the trailer of the Canal + docufilm, we see Corinna paying homage once again to the family friend: “It’s a blessing to have Jean by our side. When he makes a commitment, he’s totally committed”
The revelation on Michael Schumacher’s move to Ferrari
Again in front of the microphones of Canal +, Corinna was asked about her husband, recalling the great moment of his move to Scuderia Ferrari in 1996, after the two world titles with Benetton:
“We were in the garden, Michael approached me and asked me what I thought about his possible transfer to Ferrari. I told him that if he really had the chance to go there he would have to do it, it would have been fantastic”.
But the friendship between Todt and Michael was also a decisive factor in the German decision to sign with the Maranello team, marking the start of 11 seasons in which Schumi wrote the story of Scuderia Ferrari and Formula 1:
“The bond with Jean Todt was very important. Michael immediately understood who he could really count on. I think Jean was among those people. He wanted to win something with Todt. But it would be nice if Michael could tell this story. I wasn’t always with them. We owe a lot to Jean. Being friends with Michael over the years has been so much fun for everyone.” – Corinna Schumacher added.
