Oliver Bearman will once again have a chance to race as a starter in the 2024 Formula 1 World Championship.
Late in the evening in Italy, a few hours after the end of Sprint Qualifying, in which he was among the protagonists with a tenth-place finish achieved only due to a track limits violation on his best lap, the British driver was officially confirmed by Haas as a starter for the entire São Paulo Grand Prix weekend, which is underway this weekend at the Interlagos circuit.
The 19-year-old will continue to take the place of Kevin Magnussen, who was already forced to miss Free Practice 1, Sprint Qualifying, and tomorrow’s Sprint Race due to a physical ailment. After the qualifying session for the sprint race, the Danish driver was re-examined and found unfit to race this weekend.
For this reason, Haas has once again called on Oliver Bearman, who will start tomorrow from the tenth position on the grid in the Sprint Race, then take part in the afternoon qualifying session and Sunday’s race in Magnussen’s car, alongside Nico Hulkenberg.
This will be Oliver Bearman’s third weekend as a starter in Formula 1 after his debut at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix with Ferrari (replacing the injured Carlos Sainz), where he finished seventh, and scoring points again at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, this time replacing the disqualified Kevin Magnussen.
