The Baku Grand Prix will be present on the Formula 1 calendar until at least 2026. This was officially announced today by Formula 1 itself on its social media platforms.

This is the tweet with which the sport announced Baku’s stay on the calendar. The contract with the Baku city track was expiring this year.
Baku, a brief but spectacular history
The street track of the Azerbaijan capital thus celebrates the seventh edition of its grand prix in the best possible way: its history in Formula 1 began in 2016 when it hosted the European Grand Prix won by Nico Rosberg.
In the following years, Baku hosted the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, creating spectacular races despite the tight corners of the circuit limiting the chances of overtaking. Who could forget Sebastian Vettel’s collision with Lewis Hamilton in 2017 or the contact between Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen in 2018? Or, in the same edition, the puncture that took away a well-deserved victory from Valtteri Bottas. In 2021, then, there was the sensational double retirement for the two main figures, Max Verstappen and Hamilton, with the British driver throwing away an unrepeatable opportunity to gain 25 points on his rival in the race for the title.
