The 2023 Formula 1 championship marked Frederic Vasseur’s first year at the helm of Scuderia Ferrari. The French manager, called upon by the Maranello top management to replace Mattia Binotto at the end of the previous F1 campaign, had to contend with a very challenging SF-23 car. The only joy of the season for the Italian side came at the Marina Bay street circuit in Singapore, where Carlos Sainz secured the only non-Red Bull victory in the 2023 Formula One championship.
Austrian former Formula One racing driver Christian Klien, who currently competes full-time in the GT World Challenge Europe for JP Motorsport, discussed Frederic Vasseur’s debut with the Prancing Horse, emphasizing how the former Alfa Romeo boss can truly change things at Ferrari after a first year of learning how things go.
“Personally, I hold Fred in high regard,” Christian Klien stated in a recent interview with RacingNews365. “I like him as a person, and now he has the opportunity to really change things at Ferrari. It takes time. This year everything has been calmer.” – the Austrian pointed out.
The former Formula 1 driver, continuing to speak about the French manager, added: “Perhaps a bit less in terms of strategy, except maybe for Abu Dhabi, things are a bit calmer within Ferrari. The question now is how to take the next step and develop a faster car so that they don’t have issues with tire wear during races without having to push the car too much.” – Christian Klien concluded.
