Horner ready for a return: “I’ve spoken with every F1 team, I’d only accept for the right project” — contacts with Ferrari therefore also confirmed.
Christian Horner has no intention of stepping away from Formula 1. The former Red Bull team principal has confirmed that he has initiated contact with all the teams on the grid, including Ferrari, as he evaluates a possible return to the paddock following his forced departure midway through last season.
The British manager was relieved of his duties during a difficult 2025 campaign for the Milton Keynes-based team. From that moment on, Horner chose public silence, but behind the scenes his work never stopped.
Horner also spoke with Ferrari about his F1 future
In an interview given to the Today Show Australia, Horner clarified his position. “So far I’ve been around pretty much every team on the grid,” he explained. “I’ve spoken very little publicly since I left Red Bull.” It was a direct message, confirming his desire to return to Formula 1, potentially in an even more senior role than before.
In recent days, Christian Horner’s name has been strongly linked with Alpine. Contacts were also confirmed by Flavio Briatore, who admitted that talks had taken place with the 52-year-old.
The corporate situation at the French team remains fluid. A 24 percent stake is currently held by Otro Capital, backed by investors and well-known figures, but a possible sale of shares cannot be ruled out.
Christian Horner, however, is in no rush and has no intention of accepting just any offer. “It’s flattering that there’s always speculation around my name,” he said. “In Formula 1 that’s normal, but I’ll only come back for the right opportunity.”
The message is clear. “I want to work with the right people, who share my mindset and the same desire to win. I have no interest in being involved just for the sake of it.” A return, therefore, is far from unlikely. But for Horner, Formula 1 remains an environment to enter only if there is ambition, vision and a truly competitive project.
As the 2026 Formula 1 season approaches, the prospect of one of the sport’s most successful—and controversial—figures returning to the pit wall adds another layer of intrigue to the shifting political landscape. Whether it be in Maranello, Enstone, or elsewhere, Horner’s next move will undoubtedly be a defining story of the upcoming year.
