Once again, there were radio tensions at Ferrari, as Charles Leclerc commented on his exchanges with Bryan Bozzi during the F1 Chinese GP. It was certainly not the race the Scuderia had hoped for, with both SF-25s finishing fifth and sixth behind McLaren, Mercedes, and Red Bull. While awaiting the much-needed improvements, Japan is already shaping up to be a key challenge in the championship.
It was another disappointing race for Maranello. After the promise shown in the Sprint Race, the Chinese Grand Prix ended far from the podium positions. The two Ferraris finished only fifth and sixth, struggling with race pace and never truly battling with the frontrunners. To make matters worse, both cars were disqualified after the race. There is much to analyze and understand as the team awaits the moment when the hidden potential of the SF-25 can finally be “unlocked.”
One of the key topics from the race, which was not particularly exciting in terms of spectacle, was once again radio communications. Back in Melbourne, after the heated exchanges between the two drivers and their respective race engineers, some had suggested that Frédéric Vasseur should rein in Hamilton and Leclerc. Just one weekend later, the Monegasque driver found himself at the center of another controversial exchange.
Charles Leclerc: “We love to talk, everything is fine between us”
At the end of the race, speaking to F1TV, Charles Leclerc commented on his communications with Bryan Bozzi: “We love to talk. If you go to Italy, you’ll see how much people enjoy doing it. So we talked a lot—probably even a bit too much for my liking.” – he pointed out.
“In reality, I think I told my engineer at one point: ‘Keep telling me what’s not going well until I get frustrated and tell you to stop,’ which is exactly what happened. So, that’s how it went today,” concluded the Monegasque with a smile, making it clear that relations within the Ferrari garage remain in good shape.
