The rumours first came out on Monday evening, but it has now been officially confirmed by Ferrari: Vettel will be driving for Ferrari in 2020, but at the end of 2020 Sebastian Vettel will have to pack his bags and leave Maranello.
It had been hanging in the air for a while but nobody could have predicted that there would be clarity before the start of the Formula 1 season. However, after the wild rumours of Monday night, Ferrari confirmed Tuesday morning that Seabstian Vettel will not be a Ferrari driver from 2021 onwards.
Soon after, Charles Leclerc reacted to this announcement with a message posted on his Twitter account:
“It’s been a huge honor for me to be your team mate. We’ve had some tense moments on tracks. Some very good ones and some others that didn’t end as we both wanted, but there was always respect, even though it wasn’t perceive this way from the outside. I’ve never learnt so much as I did with you as my teammate. Thank you for everything Seb.” – Charles Leclerc wrote.
