The love between Charles Leclerc and Ferrari in Formula 1 remains strong. The Monegasque driver, who returned to the podium in Belgium after five Grands Prix of ups and (mostly) downs, reaffirms his full confidence in Maranello’s project. Driving for the Prancing Horse has always been one of his “four dreams,” three of which he has already achieved: reaching Formula 1, securing a seat with Ferrari, and winning in Monaco.
And it is indeed Monaco that marks the high point of Charles Leclerc’s 2024 Formula 1 season, at least until the summer break. A season that began far from Red Bull, but soon suggested that challenging Milton Keynes might not be so impossible after all. However, it was the rivals McLaren and Mercedes who managed to succeed, partly due to a dramatic drop in the SF-24’s performance after Spain.
Charles Leclerc does not despair: “When two or three races in a row go so badly, you can hate your life. And in those moments, I always remind myself how lucky I am to be doing what I do,” he confesses to the Gentleman’s Journal. After all, #16 is gradually toughening up, through seasons where the car has not given him the much-desired opportunity to fight for a World Championship title.
“At the moment, we’re not where we want to be in terms of performance,” explains Charles Leclerc. “But we are working very hard. I’m convinced that the future will be bright for the team, given the work we’re doing. Certainly, with the situation we’re in now, I would love to have a winning car.” – the Monegasque pointed out.
“My goal, shared with Ferrari, is to become Formula 1 World Champion,” continues the Ferrari driver. “And I want to become one only with Ferrari. I’ve been fortunate to have Maranello’s support from the very beginning of my career. My father always reminded me how difficult and unlikely it would be [to become a Formula 1 driver]. I never expected to be where I am today.” – Charles Leclerc concluded.
