Charles Leclerc has made his ambitions crystal clear for the 2026 Formula 1 season: his ultimate goal is to win the world championship with Scuderia Ferrari.
In an exclusive interview with Corriere dello Sport, the Monegasque driver spoke openly about his objectives for the upcoming 2026 F1 campaign. As always, one dream stands above all others for Leclerc — securing his first Formula 1 world title in red. This time, however, the context feels very different compared to 365 days ago.
Charles Leclerc appears genuinely confident in the work carried out in Maranello and believes that 2026 could finally be the right year to fight for something truly significant. When asked about his ambitions, he responded without hesitation: “My ambition has always been to win my first world championship in F1 with Ferrari. It’s something very strong that will remain until I achieve it.”
He also reflected on his seven years so far with Ferrari, highlighting how much both he and the team have evolved. “At the beginning of my adventure in Maranello I was little more than a rookie. Now I see the team from a different perspective. There are many details about myself that I still want to improve, even if they are small things. I want to raise my level even further, and to do that I constantly work on myself.”
Emotional words for Ferrari and the Tifosi
Charles Leclerc once again stirred the emotions of the Tifosi by expressing his deep love for Ferrari. For him, that relationship is “super important. Some drivers underestimate this aspect, but for me it is fundamental. Maybe because I grew up as a Ferrari fan and now I’m living at the centre of my dream. Ferrari is made of its history, but also of the heart and the support of the fans all over the world.”
That bond undoubtedly reached a new level at the 2019 Italian Grand Prix in Monza, when Charles Leclerc ended a nine-year home drought for Ferrari with a historic victory. He managed to repeat the feat in 2024, delivering another emotional triumph just as powerful as the first. Charles Leclerc himself admitted: “I feel very connected to them and to Italy. This is the country where I lived the most while racing karts. Now I have a thousand memories, relationships and friendships. I have more connections with Italians than with anyone else, and I understand well the emotions, the sensitivity, the culture and the way of doing things that I acquired by living in Italy. After 2019 in Monza everything became even more special. Monza is very special to me, like Monte Carlo, my home circuit where I grew up, but with the support of so many Italians.”
With renewed confidence and a deep emotional connection to Ferrari and its supporters, Charles Leclerc enters the 2026 season determined to turn his lifelong dream into reality.
Charles Leclerc’s evolution from a promising rookie to the emotional heartbeat of Maranello has reached its peak. With the technical reset of the new regulations providing Ferrari a fresh start, the 28-year-old’s internal confidence seems to mirror the high spirits currently felt within the factory. While his connection to the Tifosi provides the passion, it is his clinical focus on self-improvement that suggests he is ready for the relentless pressure of a title fight.
