On the rise
Charles Leclerc secured Ferrari’s first podium of the season in Jeddah during the last race weekend. He did so at the end of a brilliant race, where his tire management skills stood out. The Monegasque managed to compensate for the shortcomings of his SF-25, but he is the first to want more than a ‘simple’ third place for himself and the team.
Speaking on Miami’s media day to F1’s official channel, Leclerc explained that at the moment the red car is a step behind McLaren and therefore aiming for the top result is difficult. Nevertheless, the ambition of #16 remains to find a way to deliver the first victory of 2025 to the Tifosi as soon as possible — perhaps also hoping for a slip-up from rivals, as happened with Norris in Saudi Arabia.
Ambitious goal
“It hasn’t been the start of the season we wanted,” Charles Leclerc admitted to F1TV, “but it’s the one we had. We need to focus on the future and try to improve, as we’ve done over the last three races. We’ve made progress, we need to build on that and hopefully get to the first win as soon as possible.”
“On paper,” the Monegasque continued, “we still don’t have the potential to fight McLaren and Red Bull when they’re on a good day. But we need to take the points that are available. Then, when we have a car capable of winning, we must win. That said, I’m still heading into the weekend with one goal in mind, which is to win on Sunday and do our best.”
