The official press conference for the 2022 Belgian Grand Prix marks the end of the summer break and the start of the second part of the season. Among the protagonists of the first group to take part in today’s press conference there was also Charles Leclerc. The Ferrari driver, second in the overall standings, has 80 points to recover against Red Bull’s Max Verstappen in the race for the 2022 Formula One world title.
The words of Charles Leclerc
The 24-year-old Monegasque says he is relaxed after the holidays and is ready to face the second part of the season with a new spirit in an attempt to attempt what would surely be an epic comeback: “I recharged the batteries, I needed it and now I’m ready for the last nine races. The first part of the season was full of ups and downs, so many emotions that contributed to an increase in a general tiredness. I was happy to go on vacation. I used the break in the best possible way, enjoying time with my family and to friends” – he said in front of the media at Spa-Francorchamps.
The deficit in the standings against the Dutch rival of Red Bull is very high, but Charles Leclerc does not give up: “We will try, as a team, to tackle one race at a time, optimizing the opportunities that will gradually arise in front of us. I still believe in the championship. It will be complicated, but I will believe it until the end. I will try to do like Sebastian Vettel in 2013, I will do my best trying to win all the races after the summer break.” – he said in response to a question from journalists about his chance this year. In 2013, Sebastian Vettel managed to win his fourth world title by triumphing in all the appointments after returning from the summer break. “I’ll definitely do my best.” – Charles Leclerc added.
Then recalling his first Formula 1 victory secored in Belgium with Scuderia Ferrari in 2019, Charles concluded: “Spa-Francorchamps is a very special track for me, here I took my first victory and I think that for a driver this is something very difficult to forget. That year everything happened in very strange conditions, esepcially after what happened that weekend with Anthoine Hubert in Formula 2. However, it’s a track I’ve always enjoyed driving on and I hope to get another great result this weekend.”
