New details emerge regarding the robbery that Charles Leclerc suffered less than one year ago, precisely on the evening of April 18, 2022. The Monegasque was robbed by four criminals of Neapolitan origins, who stole his “Richard Mille” watch worth 2 and a half million euros.
The arrest of the robbers
A few days ago the – alleged – robbers of Charles Leclerc were arrested at the end of a long search conducted by the Italian police. Following the operation, different backgrounds on the story are emerging. One above all: that of Charles chasing two of the four muggers who had stolen his watch. As reported by today’s edition of Il Mattino, in fact, from the report “emerges the attempt by the Monegasque F1 driver to chase the two fleeing criminals, in a sort of improvised circuit through the streets of Viareggio”.
The reconstruction
Shortly after 10pm on 18 April last year, on a street in the Tuscan town, one of the robbers gets off his scooter and approaches the Ferrari driver posing as a fan of his and asking him – insistently – for photos. Then Charles Leclerc comes out of the cockpit and pleases the fake fans. At that point one of the four robbers snatches his watch from his wrist and runs off on his scooter.
Charles’s reaction
According to what was reconstructed by the Italian police, however, Charles Leclerc does not give up, returns to the wheel of his Ferrari and starts a chase that ends at the parking lot in via Petrarca.

At this point, reports from Il Mattino, the two criminals, pressed by the driver, fell off the scooter. One of them rushes at Charles Leclerc, preventing him from getting out of the car. According to the police report, the criminal “used violence and threats against Leclerc, preventing him from getting out of the car and using his cell phone to ask for help, trying to grab him, then threatening to hurt him by pulling out and pointing a knife at him, then being able to definitively escape”.
Furthermore, the investigations show that the bandits had many difficulties in placing the watch – a unique model in the world – so much so that they were forced to sell it for a price much lower than its value (300 thousand euros).
