Home » Charles Leclerc warns that “not even in Monaco can SF-24 updates from Imola be judged”

Charles Leclerc warns that “not even in Monaco can SF-24 updates from Imola be judged”. Charles Leclerc pinpoints the moment when it will be possible to start evaluating the updated version of the SF-24.

Another decisive Saturday on the horizon
At the Imola circuit, Scuderia Ferrari brought updates to the SF-24 single-seater, increasing the aerodynamic load thanks to the updated version of the car from Maranello, with Charles Leclerc securing a podium finish in the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix and Carlos Sainz finishing in fifth place. According to the Monegasque driver, the Imola circuit is not the right track to evaluate these innovations, and the same goes for Monaco, the next stop on the 2024 Formula 1 calendar scheduled for next weekend.

On paper, the first real test for a package of this magnitude is the Spanish GP in Barcelona in a month’s time, but according to Charles Leclerc, Canada could already provide some indications about Ferrari’s aero updates: “Maybe Imola is not the optimal track to judge updates like the ones we brought – said Charles Leclerc in his post-race interview for Sky Sport F1 – neither will Monaco be, but in Canada, we hope to see improvements. At Imola, I came to the track to win, and we must have the mentality that victory is always possible every weekend. In Monaco, anything is possible, on a unique track where the car, the driver, and the setup can make a difference, as we have seen over the years. We start from scratch and will go there with the aim of winning, then we will see what we can do.” – the Ferrari driver continued.

A year ago, Charles Leclerc was third in Qualifying with the SF-23, but then had to drop back due to impeding Lando Norris, a serious oversight by his race engineer Xavi Marcos who failed to warn the driver about the approaching McLaren. In the Principality this year, however, Charles Leclerc will have Bryan Bozzi on the pit wall, who has already positively accompanied him debuting at Imola as the Monegasque’s race engineer.
