Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton competed by playing classic retro video games on vintage consoles.
They started with GoldenEye, but Charles Leclerc struggled a lot, blaming the controller settings and repeatedly trying to adjust them to match Lewis’s setup — maybe it’s in the drivers’ DNA. GoldenEye is a primitive first-person shooter with stiff controls, definitely not like the Call of Duty games they are used to. Eventually, Charles Leclerc gave up, called the game “impossible,” and asked to switch to Mario Kart.
With Mario Kart, the mood heated up: one of them (guess who) was far more experienced, mastering advanced driving techniques like drifting and alternative racing lines, while the other was still trying to figure out the buttons. Between overtakes, thrown items, and surprises, the race ended dramatically with a decisive last-corner pass on the final lap.
The fun video was posted yesterday by Ferrari.
