At the end of the São Paulo sprint race, which was held earlier today at the 4.309-kilometre Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace in Brazil, Scuderia Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc was interviewed by Italian journalist Mara Sangiorgio for Sky Sport F1. The Monegasque driver, who finished the Brazil Sprint race in fourth position, behind the two McLaren MCL38 cars of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, as well as the Red Bull RB20 of Max Verstappen, spoke about the issues he faced this afternoon and mentioned some adjustments planned for tomorrow’s Grand Prix. Here are some of his most important statements.
Charles Leclerc’s comments
Charles Leclerc, speaking about the problems during the sprint, said: “We struggled with managing lift and coast. We saw this last weekend and in Austin too. We need to work on this aspect. Apart from that, the race was tough. I tried to put a lot of pressure on Lando, but toward the end of the GP it was very difficult to drive the car because I no longer had the rear tires.” – the Monegasque driver explained following the Brazilian Sprint race in Sao Paulo.
“I made many mistakes due to high degradation, but that was my choice, and in the end, it turned out to be the wrong one. We lost a point compared to what we could have ideally achieved, but we learned a lot for tomorrow’s race.” – the Ferrari man added.
Talking about setup changes for tomorrow’s “long race,” the Ferrari driver said: “For tomorrow’s race, some changes will definitely be necessary.”
