Leclerc already frustrated after FP1: “I have no grip, it’s incredible”
The first practice session in Abu Dhabi has just ended, with Lando Norris setting the pace ahead of Max Verstappen by only eight thousandths of a second. Charles Leclerc finished third after producing an excellent lap, missing the top spot by just sixteen thousandths. However, the Monegasque driver still faced several difficulties during the session, including a spin and multiple corrections behind the wheel.
Another clear team radio moment
After completing a short race-run simulation in the final minutes of the session, the number 16 driver did not hide his frustration when the chequered flag came out. He asked his race engineer, Bryan Bozzi: “We are very slow, right?” Bozzi replied immediately, admitting: “Yes, the others are lapping in 29.7, while we are at one minute and 30.”
Charles Leclerc ’s frustration continued to grow, and he ended the team radio with yet another negative comment about the SF-25: “The car has no grip, it’s incredible. I really don’t understand how this is possible,” he said. All that remains now is to wait for the second practice session, scheduled for 14:00, to see whether the Monegasque driver will finally be able to regain the long-awaited – and much-needed – confidence in his car.
