Scuderia Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc confirmed that he has every reason to trust the Italian side’s plans to get back to the top in the 20222 Formula 1 season, but at the same time Charles warned that a poor start to the next champions does not represent an option. The Maranello team has been struggling during the last two years, mainly due to the technical directives relating to engines which were introduced in the second part of 2019, that led to a total collapse for Scuderia Ferrari the following season.
Yet, given the necessity for swift improvement desperate, the Italian side was able to find some improvements this year, which led to two pole positions scored by Charles Leclerc on the streets of Monaco and Baku. The Monegasque driver has also been on the podium at the British Grand Prix, while his team-mate Carlos Sainz has two podium finishes this season, in Monaco and at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Therefore, it seems the Maranello team is heading in the right direction for ahead of the very important 2022 Formula One championship, when everybody hopes the new rules will given them the opportunity to create a car capable of fighting fore victories and titles again.
Charles Leclerc “trusts” Ferrari to deliver on that ambition, but failing to do so could have a knock-on effect for many years: “I’m not afraid. As a team we work really well,” he told RTBF Sport – “We need to be confident about the work we are doing and I am. It’s a huge opportunity not only for us but for everyone on the grid and I hope we will kick off this new era in the best way possible. We will have those cars for multiple years, so we need to start the era well, but yes I trust the team!” – the Monegasque driver explained.
Scuderia Ferrari are currently involved in a close battle with McLaren for a place behind Mercedes and Red Bull in the Constructors’ Championship, although the team has repeatedly confirmed that the major focus is on the work needed for next season. And so, Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto has previously said that it would be a “failure” if Ferrari do not contend for the 2022 titles.
