The first day of Pirelli’s tyre testing programme at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya has come to an end, with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc setting the fastest time of the session.
According to reports from Autoracer, Charles Leclerc completed an impressive 134 laps behind the wheel and recorded the day’s best lap with a time of 1:16.619. Aston Martin driver Jak Crawford was even busier, covering 146 laps and posting a best time of 1:23.709.
It was a more difficult day for Cadillac and Zhou Guanyu. The Chinese driver managed to complete only 54 laps after technical issues disrupted the American team’s testing programme and significantly limited its track time.
Testing will continue on Wednesday, with both Ferrari and Cadillac returning to the circuit. Zhou Guanyu is set to remain behind the wheel for Cadillac, while Charles Leclerc will hand over driving duties to his younger brother, Arthur Leclerc.
Ferrari will also be back on track on Thursday, although this time with the SF-25 as part of a TPC (Testing of Previous Cars) programme. The car will be driven by Rafael Camara, the Ferrari Driver Academy member who recently claimed victory in the Barcelona Formula 3 feature race.
It promises to be an extremely busy week for the Maranello-based team as Ferrari continues its efforts to gather valuable data and maximise on-track performance ahead of the next phase of the Formula 1 season.
