The much-anticipated FIGHT AIDS CUP is returning for its fourth edition, ensuring an evening filled with football, entertainment, and backing for an essential cause. Set for January 22nd, this traditional gala match will witness the BARBAGIUANS and CIRQUE FC facing off at the Stade Louis II, with iconic figures from the global football scene in attendance. Beyond celebrating sportsmanship, this year’s event serves as a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the Monte-Carlo International Circus Festival.
Louis Ducruet, President of Barbagiuans de Monaco, shares his ambitious vision for this edition. “We aim for this edition, where multiple anniversaries will be celebrated, to leave a lasting impression on people.” Over the years, the FIGHT AIDS CUP has garnered significant popularity, achieving records in sponsorship and donations for the cause of FIGHT AIDS MONACO.
H.S.H. Princess Stéphanie has been a steadfast ambassador in the fight against HIV, leading FIGHT AIDS MONACO for two decades. Her dedication has played a pivotal role in putting the global battle against HIV at the forefront of Monaco’s concerns. H.S.H. Princess Stéphanie stresses the constant need to raise awareness: “We constantly need to make people understand that they are not immune. With the evolution of research, treatments, and testing, the means to eradicate the spread of the epidemic are available. We must encourage people to do what is necessary.” – she pointed out.
The initiation of the event represents Louis Ducruet’s unwavering commitment since assuming the presidency of Barbagiuans de Monaco. Driven by convictions and visionary projects, he promptly sought to rejuvenate the occasion by enticing renowned football legends to participate in both teams—a strategy aimed at amplifying public interest and introducing new, more impactful challenges.
The FIGHT AIDS CUP has evolved over the years, gaining recognition for its professionalism and the growing number of spectators. H.S.H. Princess Stéphanie notes its seamless integration into the Monte-Carlo International Circus Festival, a testament to shared values of solidarity.

Louis Ducruet unveils some unique aspects of the 2024 edition. Once again, the FIGHT AIDS CUP will offer the public its share of surprises and specific features. In a year where activities in the principality are part of the centenary of Prince Rainier III, it was inconceivable for Louis Ducruet not to use the event to pay a new tribute to his grandfather, who passed away in 2005. Very concerned about these commemorations, the president of Barbagiuans reveals the creation of a “collector’s jersey” that the players of both teams will wear during the match. A way to “celebrate the hundredth anniversary of the Builder Prince and remember the passion he had for football and AS Monaco.” – he added.
The 20th anniversary of FIGHT AIDS MONACO and the 50th anniversary of the Monte-Carlo International Circus Festival will also be highlighted.
This year’s edition introduces new key figures to the FIGHT AIDS CUP, including football legends like Philippe Mexès and Claude Makélélé. Louis Ducruet pointed out the fact that it is crucial for the event to be able to attract new personalities, in order to diversify the event’s appeal, while at the same time applauding the loyalty of legends who continue to support the cause.
Like every year, Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc will be present on Monday January 22 at 6:30 p.m. for the charity match organized by Fightaids Monaco, at the Stade Louis II!
The upcoming FIGHT AIDS CUP 2024 assures not just an extraordinary sports spectacle but also an evening brimming with solidarity, reflection, and unwavering commitment to the vital cause of battling HIV. As the centenary celebrations and significant milestones take center stage, the Principality of Monaco stands in unified support of FIGHT AIDS MONACO. The groundwork is laid for an indelible experience, intricately blending the elements of football, philanthropy, and the enduring spirit that defines the Principality.
