Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc is not satisfied with the Italian side’s performance in the Spanish Grand Prix qualifying but is still trying to set goals for Sunday at Montmelò. According to the Monegasque driver, Ferrari can still do well in the race, regardless of what was seen on Saturday in Barcelona at the 4.657-kilometre Circuit de Catalunya.
Of course, according to car number 16, it will be difficult to fight for the win. Ferrari has shown to be much stronger in the race than in qualifying, but starting from behind will make it hard to fight decisively for the top positions, especially considering the excellent performances of McLaren and Mercedes.
For this reason, perhaps, the Ferrari driver did not hide his frustration with what has been seen so far in Barcelona. The expectations for this Spanish weekend seemed to be very different from what was demonstrated.
“A very complicated weekend for me, even though I don’t care much about thousandths. We have to do well, but those 3 tenths from pole annoy me a lot. Here we only have a few laps to try the qualifying lap and gain confidence. You can always do better, but this track is quite absurd. Today we didn’t have much more; it wasn’t a good day.” These were the quite disappointed words of Ferrari’s number 16 at the end of the qualifying session for the Spanish Grand Prix earlier today in Barcelona.
“With the rain, you never know what can happen; third place could be possible, but I see the first or second position as practically impossible for tomorrow. We gave it our all, but having seen the race pace, I think finishing ahead of everyone will not be feasible,” concluded the Monegasque.
