Charles Leclerc shows appreciation to Monaco supporters after difficult home Grand Prix
Few races on the Formula 1 calendar carry as much personal meaning for Charles Leclerc as the Monaco Grand Prix. The Ferrari driver arrived in Monte Carlo hoping to fight at the front and deliver a memorable result in front of family, friends and thousands of local supporters. Instead, the weekend ended in disappointment after a late-race retirement following what appeared to be a brake-related issue that ultimately sent his Ferrari into the barriers.
Despite the frustration, Charles Leclerc chose to focus on the positive side of the weekend by thanking the fans who continued to support him throughout one of the most difficult moments of his 2026 Formula 1 campaign.
Shortly after the race, the Monegasque driver shared a heartfelt message on social media alongside images showing the incredible support he received around the streets of Monte Carlo.
“A weekend to forget. But home is home, and the support I get every year here in Monaco is very very special and means a lot to me. Thank you so much.”
Monaco support remains stronger than ever
The images shared by Charles Leclerc perfectly captured the unique bond between the Ferrari driver and his home crowd. One photograph showed fans proudly displaying a large Leclerc banner from a balcony overlooking the circuit, while another highlighted the huge crowd that gathered around the Ferrari driver during the race weekend.
Even after a race that ended in disappointment, the support for Charles Leclerc remained unwavering. Monaco has embraced its hometown hero throughout his Formula 1 career, and every appearance around the Principality attracts enormous attention from local fans and international visitors alike.
That connection has only grown stronger over the years as Charles Leclerc has established himself as one of Formula 1’s most popular drivers and one of Ferrari’s leading figures.
A painful end to a promising Ferrari weekend
The emotional message came after a race that looked set to deliver important championship points for Ferrari. Throughout the weekend, Charles Leclerc repeatedly reported braking concerns, and those issues became a major talking point following his retirement.
Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur later confirmed that the team had experienced brake-related difficulties during the Monaco Grand Prix weekend and promised a thorough investigation before the next race in Barcelona.
The incident also sparked wider discussions within the Formula 1 paddock, particularly after brake supplier Brembo issued a statement in response to comments made after the race. Ferrari engineers are now working to fully understand what happened and ensure the problem does not reappear during the upcoming rounds of the championship.
Looking ahead to Barcelona
While Monaco ended in frustration for Charles Leclerc, there is little time for Ferrari to dwell on what happened. The Formula 1 calendar moves quickly, and the Spanish Grand Prix offers an immediate opportunity for both the team and driver to bounce back.
Ferrari is expected to introduce further developments in the coming races, while the Moneagsque will also continue evaluating technical solutions aimed at improving confidence under braking. After losing valuable points in Monaco, the focus now shifts to rebuilding momentum and returning to the podium fight.
For now, however, Charles Leclerc’s message highlights that Formula 1 is about more than results alone. Even on a weekend that ended with retirement and disappointment, the support from Monaco’s fans remained one of the standout moments of his home Grand Prix.
And judging by the scenes around the Principality, that bond between Charles Leclerc and the Monaco crowd is stronger than ever.
