Should the calendar permit, Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc has emphasized that he would readily embrace the opportunity to participate in the Le Mans 24 Hours alongside his Formula 1 tasks with the Maranello team.
Attending the Circuit de la Sarthe last weekend, Charles Leclerc had the chance to witness Ferrari’s momentous triumph upon their remarkable comeback to the prestigious World Endurance Championship race, as Antonio Giovinazzi, Alessandro Pier Guidi and James Calado won the special event behind the wheel of the Ferrari Hypercar.
Notably, the last driver to undertake both Le Mans and a full Formula 1 season was Fernando Alonso in 2018, as part of his target to secure the illustrious triple crown, taking the race victory with Toyota. Similarly, Nico Hulkenberg achieved success at the renowned endurance event in 2015 while simultaneously occupying his regular Formula 1 place behind the wheel of the Force India car.
“I think it’s an incredible race and I would love to participate one day. I don’t know when, but I would love to – it was incredible,” – the Monegasque driver admitted during his interview for the media ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix.
When questioned on the idea of attempting to achieve the same performance as Fernando Alonso and Niko Hulkenberg in Le Mans, Charles Leclerc replied: “With more and more races in F1 it starts to become more and more difficult I think to fit another race in another category where you need to do testing. If the calendar lets me do it, why not? But at the moment it looks difficult.”

This year has been the first time Ferrari had taken part in the most important category at Le Mans in over half a century, with Charles Leclerc experiencing the moment from the garage alongside Ferrari team boss Frederic Vasseur.
“It was the first time for me attending the race, so couldn’t end up better with a Ferrari winning,” – the Monegasque explained – “But that whole event is crazy. The first six hours were crazy with the weather, the rain, so it was very, very exciting.”
The media then asked Charles how long he stayed up to watch the on-track action with Ferrari. The Monegasque replied: “Until 4:30 in the morning and I slept like four hours.”
