It’s a second consecutive podium at home for the Monegasque after last year’s victory: Charles Leclerc finished second in the 2025 Monaco GP.
The Ferrari driver started from second on the grid and, after trying to challenge Lando Norris around the outside of the first corner, spent most of the race in pursuit. In the final phase, Charles Leclerc closed the gap to Lando Norris and tried to force a mistake, but was unsuccessful. Nonetheless, this result marks his second podium of the season after a third place in Jeddah. His performance was also appreciated by the fans, who voted him Driver of the Day.
In his immediate post-race reaction before stepping on the podium, Charles Leclerc’s disappointment was evident, although tempered by the context: “Happy? Not really… we lost the race yesterday. We should have done a better job on Saturday, Lando did better this weekend and deserves the win. As for me, I achieved my dream last year, not this time, but overall it’s a result above our expectations. I thought just making the Top 10 would be the challenge, and in the end, we were just a few seconds from winning. A good weekend, but I was hoping to win.”
The chase and the message to the fans
Charles Leclerc then commented on the key phase of the race, his pursuit of Norris: “It was enjoyable even for me in the car because before the end the race was a bit boring. I had to keep a certain distance from Lando, otherwise I would have overheated everything, and when I saw Max waiting there for a red flag it helped me put pressure, but it wasn’t enough.”
“As a Ferrari driver we’re lucky, because the fans support us everywhere. But being born here and seeing all the Monegasques behind me is very special; we aren’t many, but it truly warms my heart to be home and feel all this support. I hoped to give them first place — let’s hope for next year,” Charles Leclerc concluded, sending a message to his fans.
