Charles Leclerc claimed an unexpected third place with his Ferrari at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, ending an intense race with excellent tyre management and consistent race pace. At the end of the race, the team radio between the Monegasque and his race engineer Bryan Bozzi captured all the emotion and fatigue experienced by both.
Just after crossing the finish line, Bozzi said over the radio: “P3, great race. Yes! Superb, mate, superb.” Bryan Bozzi’s words were full of meaning and reflected the incredible work done by the team in a race where the podium had seemed out of reach.
Charles Leclerc’s stoic third place: is it the first real step forward for Ferrari?
Charles Leclerc’s reply was full of emotion, his voice tired but satisfied: “This race was tough, but I think we really did a great job. I don’t know if I’ll be happy with third place, but I think today was fantastic.”
Bryan Bozzi immediately reaffirmed the team’s view: “A really fantastic race.” Charles Leclerc responded over the radio: “Yes, I agree with you. The first part was really good. The second one too.” A nod to a flawlessly executed strategy and to Leclerc’s ability to manage tyre degradation on one of the most demanding tracks on the calendar.
Finally, with the calm tone typical of post-race radio chatter, Bryan Bozzi reminded the driver: “Um, pick up,” referring to the need to collect leftover rubber on the track during the in-lap to meet the car’s minimum weight requirement.
That wasn’t all. Congratulations also came from Fred Vasseur, who came on the radio to commend the performance, but Leclerc didn’t quite catch what he said—his reaction quickly went viral: “I didn’t understand anything, Fred!” But they’ll have plenty to talk about after the race.
This podium in Jeddah is Leclerc’s first of the season and a demonstration of mental and technical strength. The third-place finish, achieved with determination and flawless strategy, restores Ferrari’s confidence after a tough start to the season and shows that the bond between Charles and the Ferrari SF-25 may finally be starting to click.
