The past few weeks, and more broadly the last few months, have been far from easy for both Ferrari and Charles Leclerc. The disappointment of the 2025 season has reignited speculation about his possible departure from the Scuderia. Throughout this season, the Monegasque driver has repeatedly confirmed his loyalty to Ferrari, and ahead of the United States Grand Prix, he returned to the topic in light of recent rumors.
Leclerc’s manager, Nicolas Todt, spoke about the ongoing driver market roughly a week ago and highlighted a crucial point. From 2026 onward, the market will largely depend on how competitive teams are under the new regulations. This context has fueled speculation about Charles Leclerc’s future, as remaining at Ferrari would likely require him to have a truly winning car—something he has yet to fully experience. The internal situation at Maranello has also contributed to these discussions, as it appears far from calm.
Charles Leclerc reiterates: “I love Ferrari”
“There is a lot of speculation about me, but also about the team in general, for some reason,” Charles Leclerc said. “I feel that too many people are saying things that are not based on real facts, and that is a bit annoying. It has always been this way. I think that, as drivers, but also as a team, we just need to focus on the work that needs to be done, and that is exactly what we are doing.”
The situation, both internally and externally at Maranello, appears far from serene. The disappointing season has sparked significant criticism, as the goal of challenging for world titles quickly unraveled. This has created strong media pressure on the Scuderia and its key figures, including team principal Frederic Vasseur and Charles Leclerc himself. Nevertheless, the Monegasque driver seems certain about his future.
“I have said it very clearly. My opinion is that I love the team, I have always loved Ferrari, and I want to win again with Ferrari—and that does not change,” Charles Leclerc added. “Whenever you are part of a team, you need to trust the project in order to perform at your best. But I love Ferrari, I have always been extremely grateful to them, and I want to win with the Ferrari. That is my main priority at the moment.”
Charles Leclerc has reaffirmed his full loyalty to the Scuderia, but Ferrari will need to produce a car capable of competing for the championship next season. Otherwise, the Monegasque driver may eventually face a difficult choice between two options: love or glory.
