Rumours are becoming increasingly strong regarding a possible move for Charles Leclerc to Aston Martin starting from the 2027 Formula 1 season. According to the latest reports, the Monegasque driver could be only one step away from the Silverstone-based team if Ferrari once again fails to provide him with a car capable of competing for the championship. Aston Martin is undergoing a major internal restructuring, and this process includes strategic changes both in management and in the driver line-up.
After the dismissal of team principal Andy Cowell on the Sunday of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, several voices in the paddock have linked Christian Horner with a potential arrival at Aston Martin. The British manager could reunite with Adrian Newey, with whom he formed a legendary partnership at Red Bull, securing eight world titles in just nineteen years. Lawrence Stroll’s ambition is clear: replicate the winning formula seen at Red Bull and build a team capable of opening a dominant cycle.
Leclerc reportedly close to Aston Martin according to Terruzzi
This restructuring would also naturally involve the drivers. Fernando Alonso will pass the age of 45 next season, while Lance Stroll has repeatedly expressed his desire to leave the Formula 1 world sooner or later. For this reason, Lawrence Stroll is reportedly working to convince Charles Leclerc to join Aston Martin from 2027. According to well-known Italian journalist Giorgio Terruzzi, Charles Leclerc’s arrival at the green team is much closer than previously imagined. He discussed this scenario on his podcast Terruzzi racconta after the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
If confirmed, it would be a sensational move—yet not entirely surprising given the constant disappointments Charles Leclerc has faced, and continues to face, during his years at Ferrari. However, there may still be hope for the Tifosi: if Ferrari finally provides the Monegasque with a competitive car next season, the situation could change entirely. Giorgio Terruzzi claims that Charles Leclerc will wait for the first three or four races of the upcoming season before making a final decision regarding his long-term future.
With this in mind, Ferrari fans can only hope that the team will produce a competitive car for 2026. If not, Ferrari may be forced to say goodbye to a driver who has always placed the team first and who, regardless of what happens, will always carry Ferrari in his heart.
