At the United States Grand Prix in Austin, the circuit where he secured his last career win a year ago, Charles Leclerc celebrated his sixth podium of the 2025 season. Finishing third, he delivered an aggressive and committed race, starting on soft tires—the only driver in the top ten to do so—and switching to medium tires in the second stint. By overtaking Lando Norris at the start using the tire advantage, Charles Leclerc defended strongly against the McLaren driver’s attacks but eventually had to concede five laps from the end.
Before his pit stop, Charles Leclerc also had a brief but entertaining duel with his Ferrari teammate Lewis Hamilton, who eventually finished fourth. According to Charles Leclerc, the intra-team battle did not influence the overall outcome of the Grand Prix.
Dueling with Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton
“Honestly, I’m not sure how much time we lost. I wasn’t aware I would be pitting on that lap. In the end, I ran my race and defended my position, and I have no regrets. We couldn’t have done more, especially since Lando had more pace than us. In our battle, he couldn’t overtake easily, but it was clear he would eventually succeed. I have no regrets; I enjoyed the race because it was fun,” Charles Leclerc told Sky Sport F1 after the race which was held at the Circuit of the Americas.
He added, speaking about the Ferrari team: “We’re working well, even when there are things around the team we can’t control. There are noises and rumors that we don’t want to hear and that aren’t even justified. We know how to stay focused on our work even in those conditions, and a weekend like this proves it. I’m very happy with the team; we made progress, especially from Friday to Saturday, thanks to the excellent work done both at headquarters and on track. It was a perfect weekend. The car’s potential doesn’t yet allow us to win, but it was a very strong performance.” – the Monegasque driver concluded.
