Charles Leclerc addressed the topic of the new FIA technical directive that came into force from the 2025 Spanish GP, clarifying that the impact on the balance of the Ferrari SF-25 was noticeable but under control. While Lewis Hamilton harshly criticized the new regulation, Charles Leclerc offered a more balanced analysis.
“Yes, in fast corners it is a bit more difficult to drive, but it’s not something that bothers me,” the Monegasque said at the end of Spanish GP qualifying. “It is more stable in slow corners, while at high speed it is a bit more reactive, but nothing we didn’t expect.”
Charles Leclerc explains why the TD has not overturned the SF-25
According to Charles Leclerc, teams have worked to find new ways to balance the cars after the limitation on the flexing of the front wings. “Now it is achieved in different ways, mechanically every team has found solutions to compensate. I think we all went in that direction, whereas before it was mostly the front wing doing the work.” – the Monegasque pointed out.
The Ferrari driver emphasized that the changes are more evident in some driving phases but have not drastically altered the overall performance of the car. “In our case, it hasn’t changed much. We simply worked to adapt and I think there have been improvements.”
Regarding track feelings, Charles Leclerc noticed different behavior between practice and qualifying: “After FP1 and FP2 I was more optimistic, the car behaved well. In qualifying it returned to the behavior we knew, with its limits.” – the Monegasque driver concluded.
