There is no better denial than one made informally, in the most sincere way possible, with the awareness, however, of entrusting one’s thoughts to one of the most important Formula 1 journalists. And so Leo Turrini, a well-known Ferrari insider and journalist for the Quotidiano Nazionale newspaper, reported the discussion he had with Scuderia Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, as the Monegasque strongly denied an ongoing negotiation with Mercedes for the future, instead confirming his great desire to continue alongside the Maranello team and above all the desire to achieve a huge goal: that of bringing the world championship back to Maranello.
Charles Leclerc, who has firmly established himself a place in the hearts of the Tifosi thanks to his talent, generosity and abilities behind the wheel that brings him closer to Gilles, took the SF-23 car for a run at the Fiorano circuit for the first time and is now eager to drive the new Ferrari challenger in the official winter pre-season testing session to really understand where the SF-23 single-seater is in terms of performance and how concrete is the goal – stated by the team’s top management – of winning the Drivers’ Championship that has been missing in Maranello since Kimi Raikkonen won back in 2007.
“I’m leaving for Bahrain on Monday and frankly I can’t wait to be there” – the words of the Monegasque driver during his interview for Leo Turrini – “We will have three days of testing together with all our rivals. It doesn’t make much sense to ask me how I judge our new car at this stage. I immediately said that the impression was good, but then it all depends on the comparison with others teams.” – the Monegasque driver added.
The most beautiful words for all Ferrari fans, however, were related to a different topic: the Monegasque driver was asked about his Formula 1 future and wanted to distance himself from the rumours linking him to a possible move to Mercedes from 2025, as his current contract with the Maranello team is available until the end of the 2024 Formula 1 season. Charles Leclerc wants to succeed where other champions such as Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel did not manage to do so.

“Eh, I know you’re afraid that I might go to Mercedes after Lewis Hamilton” – Leo Turrini reported in his article for the National Quotidiano newspaper – “But honestly there are no negotiations, I’m very happy at Ferrari, I feel the enthusiasm of the people, I am very much excited about the idea of realizing the dream of winning the title. It is my biggest wish and that of everyone, of winning with this team, with Scuderia Ferrari.” – Charles Leclerc concluded.
