Charles Leclerc shines on the streets of Monte Carlo in front of his home fans.
After qualifying in second place — having been pipped by Lando Norris at the very last moment — Charles Leclerc knew that something truly extraordinary would have had to happen for him to win his home race in Monte Carlo. Which, predictably, didn’t happen.
At the start, Charles Leclerc wasn’t able to attack Norris and ended up chasing him for nearly the entire race, with even the two mandatory pit stops failing to provide a real opportunity to challenge the British driver.
Charles Leclerc’s words to Canal+
“I’m a little disappointed. I’m always disappointed when I’m not first, but you have to be satisfied and make the most of it when the job is well done. And I think we did a good job overall. The SF-25’s potential? The car was strong this weekend and I think we’re doing quite well with kerbs and bumps. But I’m not expecting miracles on other tracks. We’ll see. I believed in it right up to the last lap, but we knew on paper it would be very difficult. I’m not particularly disappointed about today, more about yesterday. Overall, the weekend was extremely positive, so it’s great.” – the Monegasque driver explained at the end of the Monaco Grand Prix.
Charles Leclerc is fifth in the championship with 79 points, 82 points behind championship leader Oscar Piastri.
