Among the many rumours that were leaked in recent days about the possible changes at Scuderia Ferrari, there was one in particular that concerned Charles Leclerc. Indeed, Sky Sports journalist Simon Lazebny had dropped a bombshell a few days ago, stating that the seven-time Formula One world champion could leave Mercedes to join the Maranello team. On the occasion of the press conference preceding the Jeddah weekend, however, Charles Leclerc addressed the sensational rumors that talked about a possible swap with Lewis Hamilton.
Charles Leclerc clarifies rumors of a possible exchange with Lewis Hamilton
I don’t know from where it [rumors] is coming from and to be honest I don’t want to even spend any energy on trying to find from where it’s coming from. We just need to be on it and focus on ourselves. It is quite sad to see how many rumors there have been about the team in the last few weeks. Especially when they are absolutely unfounded. There is really no foundation to these rumors. I am absolutely motivated. I’ve been in Maranello and I know that everyone is pushing in the right direction. And that‘s the most important thing for me. For me, I think there are people who try to destabilize the team, but fortunately it doesn‘t destabilize us. “It’s important to make this clear because there have been so many rumours about us recently that have come out of nowhere, perhaps to get us into trouble. The team is united, what is said outside shouldn’t interest us, I love Ferrari and I want to win again here.” – Charles Leclerc pointed out.
The Monegasque driver therefore silences any possible rumor about a possible move to Mercedes, swearing unconditional love to the Prancing Horse. and therefore putting and end to speculation. The rumours will most likely continue to target especially Lewis Hamilton, after the British driver expressed his dissatisfied for the performance of the W14 challenger, and has not yet signed the renewal with Mercedes.
However, both drivers should remain firmly in their respective positions, with the desire to help their teams return to the top. If on the one hand Lewis Hamilton has already won and dominated with the silver arrows, the Monegasque has collected only a few crumbs compared to what was shown on the track. The number 16 has in fact secured only five race victories in 103 races. A clearly unsatisfactory total considering the huge expectations that Ferrari fans have in him. Furthermore, the pole-to-win ratio is one of the lowest in recent Formula 1 history.

2023 was supposed to be the year of the challenge for the Formula One drivers’ title. However, the season got off to a bad start for Charles Leclerc, having to retire at the Bahrain International Circuit. Now the target for redemption in Jeddah, despite the fact that the driver will have to take a ten-place grid penalty in Saudi Arabia for the third replacement of the ECU. Winning in Saudi Arabia therefore seems very difficult, but the Monegasque has accustomed us to great comebacks in the past.
