The relationship between Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc is certainly not at its best. This has been evident on several occasions on the track, with qualifying overtakes and team radio conversations highlighting the lack of harmony between the two drivers of the Scuderia Ferrari. In recent hours, a social media controversy has also arisen due to a like given by Sainz’s mother to a tweet against Leclerc.
During the Monza weekend, the former McLaren driver from Spain consistently outperformed his teammate. Leclerc himself admitted to copying the car setup of car number 55 after showing promise on the Friday of the Italian track. The situation did not reverse in either qualifying or the race, with the Spaniard securing pole position and a podium.
Certain behaviors of Sainz’s parents have confirmed that tensions within the two boxes of the Maranello team are far from serene. After the race, Carlos Sainz Sr. complained about the lack of communication within the Ferrari team. “I would like them to explain to my son why sometimes they allow them to race each other closely and other times they don’t.” Subsequently, a like from Carlos Sainz’s mother on a tweet against the Monegasque sparked a social media controversy. The incriminated tweet read, “You know what Carlos has that Charles will never have? Honor. Congratulations, Carlos, today you silenced several people.”
Charles Leclerc immediately responded by liking a photo of himself on the Monza podium in 2019 with the word “Honor” as the caption.
This controversy, although limited to the realm of social media, once again confirms a far from relaxed relationship between the two drivers of the Scuderia Ferrari.
