At the end of the qualifying session for the 2025 Formula 1 British Grand Prix at Silverstone, Scuderia Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc expressed strong frustration toward himself, punching the steering wheel of his SF-25 in anger.
Qualifying did not go according to plan for the Maranello-based team, as both Ferrari drivers fell short of expectations. Charles Leclerc, who had shown competitive pace throughout the weekend, blamed himself for missing the opportunity to fight for pole position. Alongside teammate Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc made a costly mistake in the closing moments of Q3, which ultimately denied him a spot on the front row of the grid, despite the Ferrari SF-25 demonstrating excellent speed.
The Italian team arrived at Silverstone with a very fast car and a setup that seemed well-balanced right from the first free practice session. Both Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton had consistently placed near the top of the timesheets in the earlier sessions. However, when it came to qualifying, the two Ferrari drivers were forced to concede to the pace of McLaren drivers Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, as well as Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen, who ultimately secured pole.
Despite the qualifying disappointment, Ferrari’s race pace appears promising, suggesting that the outcome of Sunday’s Grand Prix may not be as predictable as expected.
Charles Leclerc Furious After Qualifying Mistake
Immediately after crossing the finish line in Q3, Charles Leclerc opened up over team radio, unleashing a stream of frustration directed entirely at himself for the error he made in the final corners of the British circuit. His words were brutally self-critical: “F***, f***, f***. What the hell was that? I’m such fuc*** sh**. That’s all I am.”
As his outburst was broadcast, onboard footage also showed the visibly furious Monégasque driver punching the steering wheel of his Ferrari SF-25. The gesture underscored just how frustrated he was with what could have been a vastly different qualifying result—had it not been for the mistake in the final sector of his last lap.
