The Singapore Grand Prix qualifying session ended in frustration for Ferrari, as Charles Leclerc could only secure seventh place on the grid, right behind his teammate Lewis Hamilton, who finished sixth. Pole position went to George Russell, once again highlighting Ferrari’s struggle to match the pace of their main rivals.
It was a difficult session for the Monegasque driver, who battled throughout with an unstable and unbalanced SF-25. The car forced him into constant corrections at the wheel, making it impossible to deliver a clean lap. By the end of Q3, his team radio perfectly summed up the frustration that had been building inside him.
The fury of Leclerc after Singapore GP qualifying
Bozzi: “P7 in the end. Hamilton P6.”
Leclerc: “Unbelievable. Unbelievable. So bad. So, so bad. Shit weekend”
As he uttered those words, Charles Leclerc vented his anger by punching his steering wheel — a gesture that clearly reflected the tension and disappointment of being unable to express his full potential with a car that seemed unwilling to cooperate.
The result in qualifying is especially painful considering the characteristics of the Marina Bay Street Circuit, where overtaking is notoriously difficult and grid position often dictates the outcome of the race. For Leclerc, Sunday looks set to be a tough challenge, one that will depend heavily on aggressive strategy calls and perhaps a bit of luck with safety cars or changing track conditions.
Things were not much better on the other side of the Ferrari garage. Lewis Hamilton finished sixth, unable to join the fight for the top five positions. His result further underlined Ferrari’s current struggles, as the team found itself behind McLaren, Mercedes, and Red Bull — lacking the outright pace to challenge for podiums or victories over a single lap.
With Charles Leclerc starting seventh and Lewis Hamilton sixth, the Singapore Grand Prix promises to be a stern test for the Scuderia. The goal will be to limit the damage, manage tire degradation, and collect as many valuable points as possible for the championship.
