The 2023 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix has been canceled. The official decision was communicated by Formula 1, which first expressed solidarity with the people affected by the emergency that has been afflicting the region for days. “Following discussions between Formula 1, the President of the FIA, and the authorities (the competent Ministers, the President of the Automobile Club of Italy, the President of Emilia Romagna, the Mayor of Imola, and the Promoter), it has been decided not to proceed with the Grand Prix.”
“The decision has been made – the statement continues – because it is not possible to guarantee the necessary safety for the smooth running of the event, for our fans, for the teams, and for the personnel working at the event. It would not be right to exert further pressure on local authorities by requesting additional services at such a difficult time.”
The news was officially confirmed earlier today, announced through the official Formula 1 Twitter profile, stating that the Made in Italy and Emilia-Romagna GP has been definitively canceled for this weekend due to weather conditions.
Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc sent a message to fans following the official news regarding the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix cancellation and also shared the details for Emergency Flood Fundraising to support families, companies and organisations most affected by the flood emergency:
