Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc doesn’t appear to be enthusiastic about parting ways with his current Maranello teammate, Carlos Sainz. Recent reports in the Italian media have been suggesting that the Monegasque, whose existing deal with the Italian side extends until 2024, might have already committed to staying with the Maranello team for both 2025 and 2026. On the other hand, the speculations surrounding Carlos Sainz, who also has a contract expiring soon, have been linking him to Audi’s 2026 Formula One project.
Carlos Sainz’s representatives downplayed these rumors in a recent interview with an Italian publication, emphasizing that his top priorities are a “plan A, plan B, and plan C” that revolve around securing a new deal with Scuderia Ferrari. In a new interview with the Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport newspaper, Charles Leclerc was asked about his perspective on his teammate:
“I can work well with Carlos,” he pointed out, “even if there is a lot of competition between us.” Charles was then asked to pinpoint his teammate’s main strengths and replied: “His work ethic and perseverance.”
At the same time, Charles Leclerc admitted that his main target is to help Ferrari improve and contribute to making the car faster, as the Maranello team hopes to come back stronger in the 2024 Formula 1 campaign:

“We cannot settle for being second or third,” – the Monegasque driver explained following the latest round of the season, which was held in Belgium ahead of the summer break – “We must win and we have to make that feasible. Podiums are nice, but I haven’t really enjoyed them.” – the Ferrari driver concluded.
