In a recent interview for Motorsport Magazin, Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc was asked about his former Maranello teammate Sebastian Vettel, who will end his Formula 1 career after the final two rounds of the current season, the Brazilian Grand Prix and the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Here are some of Charles’ comments for the German website Motorsport Magazin:
In our last interview, back when you were at Alfa-Sauber, we were told no questions on Sebastian/Ferrari. Are you still in touch with him?
Charles Leclerc: “Of course. We don’t send each other messages every week, but when something comes up, we always text each other.”
Did you learn anything special from Seb?
Charles Leclerc: “He is the hardest worker (most hard working) in the Formula 1 paddock, for sure. When I came from Alfa Sauber, I arrived casually in the morning and he had already been sitting in the office for an hour and a half. But when it happened for the first time I asked myself: Why does he do that? What does he need so much time for? With more experience and the more I talked to him, the more I saw that there are little details that I didn’t take care of at the beginning but he did. That has made a difference. I learned a lot of things from him. Especially at that point in my career, when I was still very young, it was good to have an experienced driver like Seb by my side.”

Will you miss Seb?
Charles Leclerc: “I think we will all miss him. Seb is a very, very nice and really friendly person. Everyone will miss him in the paddock..”
There seems to be a bit of a trend of you being faster at the beginning and Carlos catching up as the season goes on. Is he getting faster or you slower?
Charles Leclerc: “(laughs) I hope he gets faster! I always try to get better. This year I felt comfortable in the car straight away. I did a fantastic job with my engineers in the first winter test to be ready for the first race. I knew what I wanted from the car and it happened naturally. As a result, I was much more at ease at the start of the season. But after that Carlos caught up and came back.”
