Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc feels that Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has the best chances of winning the 2021 Formula 1 title, thus taking a record-breaking eighth title by beating his rival Max Verstappen to the 2021 championship.
Ahead of this weekend’s Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, the Red Bull Racing driver still holds an eight-point advantage in the 2021 in the Drivers’ standings, as Max Verstappen has led the championship for much of the current season. Yet in the last few races Mercedes seems to have found some big improvements and looked faster, allowing the British driver to win the last two races, which took place in Brazil and Qatar.
Charles Leclerc admitted that Lewis Hamilton’s storming drive in Brazil changed his mind over who will end up coming out on top, but asserts that it will be close.

“I keep changing my mind” – the Ferrari driver explained in yesterday’s press conference ahead of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix – “I was pretty sure Max will get it until Sao Paulo. Then after Brazil I changed a bit my mind. And now I think probably Lewis is on a good run. But it’s true Max has the points advantage which is what matters. So it’s going to be tight but, if anything, maybe Lewis.” – he added.
The fight between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen has been one of the most intense squabbles the sport has seen in some time, with the duo coming together on several occasions during the current championship. Charles Leclerc feels that the fierce battle between the duo has no impact on his own season, but admits he is enjoying being a spectator: “I don’t have anything in particular, it’s just very nice to see for the sport. Also, I mean for myself I don’t see much of that battle because I’m racing at the same time of them, but it’s nice to see the title fight being so close.” – Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc concluded.
