What would you say to young Charles now?
Charles Leclerc: “You need to believe in yourself that is the most important thing. I never believed in myself until I got to F1. I think it was a strength because I’ve worked harder and harder because I thought I wasn’t good enough. But it’s also a disadvantage in some situations. So yes, believe in yourself and have fun!”
I don’t know if you remember, but we have done an interview with you when you were 10 years old! Back then, did you think about being an F1 driver one day especially at Ferrari?
Charles Leclerc: “Of course, I remember it and no, back then I couldn’t imagine it. I remember the first Monaco GP that I’ve attended. I was around 4 or 5. I was on a balcony at Turn 1. I was dreaming about being an F1 driver but I couldn’t picture it. Year after year, I’ve worked hard and it seemed far away.”
On social media, we have seen that you are getting along pretty well with Carlos Sainz!
Charles Leclerc: “Yes, we’re getting along. Everything is fine. Carlos is really cool. We are at the same age. And we like the same things: golf, padel and chess.”
You two seem to have a lot of fun!
Charles Leclerc: “That is what I was going say. We laugh a lot together. It’s nice. But more importantly we work well together. We want the same thing from the car, so we work in the same direction and it’s really positive for the team.”
