Charles Leclerc on Monza win: “McLaren remains the fastest, but our package worked well here”. Charles Leclerc delivers another great win for Ferrari.

Charles Leclerc did it. Through strategy, with a smooth driving style on tires that others couldn’t manage as well as he did. A victory in front of the home crowd, Ferrari’s crowd, which sparked an exhilarating invasion after a win that was hard to predict just a week ago and yet materialized in the form of a young man from the Principality of Monaco who wanted to sing the Italian anthem on the top step of the podium, together with his team.

The only thing black this weekend was the suit. The Ferrari team’s brilliant insight, daring a single stop by trusting in the Hard tires, paid off perfectly on Monza’s new asphalt, also thanks to Charles Leclerc’s masterful management of them.

After removing his helmet and celebrating with his mechanics, Charles Leclerc gave his first words as the new winner of the Italian Grand Prix, a race he had already won in the 2019 Formula 1 championship but today gave him the same feelings.

“It’s an incredible feeling. I thought nothing could give me the same sensations as the first victory I got here, in 2019. I thought the first time was unique and that if there was a second, it wouldn’t be as special. But in the last laps, I felt exactly the same things I experienced in 2019. I looked at the stands from the track, and it was incredible.” – the Monegasque driver pointed out.

Monaco and Monza, two victories achieved this year in the two races he most wanted to win. Charles Leclerc managed it, and it’s an incredible satisfaction for him.

“I managed to win both in Monaco and Monza, the two races I care about the most, in the same season. Of course, I want to win the World Championship as soon as possible, but I managed to win these two races in the same season, and it’s a great satisfaction. It’s very special.” – the Ferrari driver pointed out at the end of the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix.

The aerodynamic update package Ferrari brought to Monza worked perfectly, but Charles Leclerc still thinks that McLaren will be the favorites in the upcoming races. However, this doesn’t mean that the team won’t try to bring home more victories from now until the end of the  2024 Formula 1 season.

“I don’t know if this package will help us win more races. It worked very well here at Monza, but I doubt it can guarantee us the same performance for the rest of the season. McLaren remains the favorite, but we’ve definitely taken a step forward. Now we’re going to Baku, and it’s a track where I usually go fast; I like it. So let’s hope we can deliver another great performance like we did here at Monza.” – Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc concluded.
