There are still seven races, as Formula 1 is now in the last section of its 72nd season. And it all boils down to a head-to-head duel between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. After 15 races, the challenger has two wins more under his belt, but defending champion Lewis Hamilton leads the Formula 1 Driver Standings by two points, ahead of the Turkish Grand Prix this weekend.
The pendulum swings back and forth between Mercedes and Red Bull, as we saw several times this year. Mercedes had its advantages in the last two races. In Istanbul, however, no favorite can be identified in advance and the circuits that will host Formula 1 races after the Istanbul event also promise excitement. “It’s difficult to say who will be stronger where. Sometimes them, sometimes us” – said Max Verstappen.
For the first time, the Red Bull superstar is in a position to fight for the title. For the first time, he has a car in his hands that allows him to fight on a par with Mercedes and Hamilton. The 24-year-old seems to be enjoying it. The pressure is obviously rolling off him or Verstappen is a good actor to play cool: “I am relaxed and focused,” he explains. “The team is doing its best. I am doing my best. We want to win, but we cannot force anything. Even if we ended up in second place, we still had a great season. It wouldn’t change much if I became world champion. I enjoy what I’m allowed to do. We give everything. We’ll see what comes out in the end.”
The paddock doesn’t buy this attitude from him. Verstappen is still young and has many years ahead of him in Formula 1. But who knows how often he will have the opportunity to drive for the World Championship in the future?

Charles Leclerc believes in Verstappen
In Thursday’s press conference for the Turkish Grand Prix, a few drivers were asked about their favorite for the title this year. Who will win the battle for the Formula 1 world championship, Max Verstappen or Lewis Hamilton? Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc believes in the challenger. “It is incredibly difficult to say, but I will follow my instincts. Max has been faster than Lewis in more races this season. That’s why I believe Max will win.”
Max Verstappen has seven wins to date, while Lewis Hamilton five.
