Ahead of the British Grand Prix at the Silverstone circuit, Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc discussed the difficulties the Italian side is encountering. In particular, the Maranello team has been experiencing some bouncing issues again in recent weekends.
For the Monegasque driver, however, it is not necessarily related to the latest developments. In fact, those are providing the expected results, but Ferrari is currently unable to optimize the car.
Charles Leclerc’s comments
“I think it’s a topic that doesn’t specifically concern these updates,” Charles Leclerc explained. “It always depends on how you want to run the car. Obviously, when you try to push in one direction or another, you encounter different limitations. That’s why we struggled to find the exact working point of this new package. Where is the sweet spot to run to maximize the car’s potential?” – he pointed out – “At the moment, that’s where we are struggling. That’s where we are focusing to try to find the optimal configuration of the car.”
“I feel we learned a lot in the last race. We ran both cars in very different configurations and setups. I hope this helps us learn and solve the problems starting this weekend.”
The Monegasque explained that there would be no new updates on the SF-24 at Silverstone. However, comparative tests between the cars will be conducted, provided the rain doesn’t ruin the plans.
“There are no updates on the car,” said Charles Leclerc. “It would obviously be very useful if it didn’t rain, but at the moment, it seems it probably will. So, if it rains tomorrow, the test we wanted to do again between the two cars, just to confirm some things, might have to be postponed to the next race.” – the Ferrari driver confirmed – “As I said, we are still trying to figure out where we need to set up the car to maximize the potential of these updates because, as I have already explained, the numbers we expected from this update are there.”
“The updates are working as they should, but it’s more about how to make the car work to optimize those numbers, which we haven’t been able to do yet. We are still working on it.” – Charles Leclerc concluded ahead of the British Grand Prix weekend at the Silverstone circuit.
