Ferrari’s ongoing development
As Lewis Hamilton himself has recently revealed, during the first seven months of his time with Scuderia Ferrari, the seven-time Formula 1 World Champion has already prepared three comprehensive documents. In these files, he outlined a wide range of areas where he believes improvements are necessary in order to return Ferrari to winning form.
These internal reports, or “dossiers,” sparked considerable discussion within the paddock and the media. In fact, some observers noted that Hamilton sounded less like a driver and more like a team manager, given how deeply he appears to be involved in technical and organizational aspects of Ferrari’s operations.
And what about Charles Leclerc?
Over the past few months, Lewis Hamilton has made several public statements referencing his active role behind the scenes at Maranello. He has even gone as far as to say that he has never spent this much time at a factory in any other season throughout his long and successful career in Formula 1.
Naturally, these statements have raised legitimate questions about the extent of Lewis Hamilton’s influence over Ferrari’s future strategic and technical decisions. This has become especially relevant given that the team is currently underperforming and not meeting its own performance expectations for the 2025 season.
Charles Leclerc, however, has taken a more understated and measured approach in his communication. Confident in his on-track results—he has consistently outperformed Hamilton in qualifying and race pace this season—the Monegasque driver has chosen not to adopt the same high-profile communication style as his teammate.
When asked about Lewis Hamilton’s recent remarks and whether the team is perhaps listening exclusively to the British driver’s suggestions, Charles Leclerc responded with a smile and a light-hearted laugh: “Don’t worry, of course I’m involved too. Even though I’m not producing any official documents, I regularly have meetings with the team every time I return to Maranello, so we can discuss what the next priorities are for us to tackle as a team.”
Regarding Lewis Hamilton’s growing influence within the team, the Monegasque driver downplayed the idea that there is any internal imbalance. He emphasized that different drivers simply have different ways of delivering feedback: “Every driver has their own method of providing input on what they think is important. I have my own approach, which is different from Lewis’s, but that doesn’t mean I’m being left out. On the contrary, I am definitely part of the process,” the Ferrari driver affirmed while speaking to the media in Hungary.
With these remarks, Charles Leclerc made it clear that while he may not be making headlines with internal documents or detailed public commentary, he remains deeply involved in the development and decision-making processes at Ferrari. His quiet but effective leadership style continues to play an essential role as the team looks to improve its competitiveness in the second half of the 2025 Formula 1 season.
