Charles Leclerc’s bond with Ferrari and Italy remains very strong, especially with the cities of Emilia-Romagna and Imola. In fact, the Monegasque driver has allocated funds to Imola following last year’s devastating flood.
Last year, just before the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, Imola was forced to cancel the GP due to a severe flood. In response, numerous donations came from teams and drivers. Charles Leclerc personally auctioned off the suit and helmet he used in the previous season’s Monaco GP to donate the proceeds to the city of the Autodromo.
Now, thanks to that donation, work will begin to refurbish a section of the city dedicated to children. The start date for the work is set for August 8, with a total sum of around 43,000 euros allocated.
Specifically, the area is the playground in the green space adjacent to the “Renzo” Bar on Via Romeo Galli. The project will involve removing an existing castle and swing to be completely replaced. Additionally, a third play structure will be added. The work is expected to be completed by August 15.
It appears that these will not be the only projects carried out thanks to the Monegasque driver’s donation. As mentioned by Imola’s mayor, Marco Panieri, there will be further improvements funded by the donation from the Ferrari driver.
“I want to thank Charles Leclerc again for donating this sum of money. He has given a great gift to the city of Imola, and this makes us very happy. I had the chance to meet him during the Grand Prix weekend, and he ensured that the work would proceed correctly,” Marco Panieri said.
