Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc has admitted that he is targeting at least one victory in the 2021 Formula 1 season, despite the fact that the Italian side is still far behind Mercedes and Red Bull, especially in the race pace.
Charles qualified in fourth place in Bahrain and finished fifth behind McLaren’s Lando Norris. He failed to win last year as Ferrari suffered their worst F1 season since 1980 and is desperate to not go winless for a second consecutive year.
“I will be happy if I win at least one race It’s going to be tough, but the win makes me happy and I’m always fighting to try. That is in my mentality, even when I start at the back and know that I cannot win, I still focus on victory. I don’t care about fourth and fifth places.” – the Monegasque driver explained, as reported by the Italian media.
Charles Leclerc also confirmed that his one lap pace is his biggest strength while he has understood the importance of choosing his battles and not going over the limit: “I worked a lot on patience. At first I always wanted everything right away, especially in my first year at Ferrari. Now I have understood that I need to keep my patience more and work to fix things.” – Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc concluded.
