In a recent interview for ServusTV TV station based in Wals-Siezenheim, in the Austrian state of Salzburg, Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc was asked about joining the Maranello team four seasons ago and how this experience impacted his personal life:
Being part of Ferrari, has it also changed your personal life?
Charles Leclerc: “Quite a bit. In the beginning, people in F1 didn’t really know me, maybe very few, only the hardcore F1 fans. And then you become a Ferrari driver and then it changes fundamentally. And then when you get your first win, it changes again. I’m in my fourth season now and of course life has changed. Despite that, I try to stay the same person I was four years ago. The most important thing is to stay true to your principles. I still am. I knew from the start [when I joined Ferrari] that this was the opportunity of a lifetime, of course the pressure was huge because you have to deliver straight away, but I settled in quickly and knew how lucky I was to be in that position. It is simply an incredible experience, a dream come true. I have always liked the colour red since I was younger. I always looked at the red car in a different way for some reason. I am very proud and grateful to be part of this racing team.”
Charles about playing the piano:
“I love playing the piano. Here I can completely switch off and no longer think about racing and I enjoy that very much. I play the piano more in bad times than in good times (laughs). When things are going well, you really want to get back on the track quickly and only think about racing. But when it’s not going well, I play the piano and try to forget everything around me..”
