Charles Leclerc and the bond with Ferrari
Only the dream of one day becoming Formula 1 World Champion with Scuderia Ferrari can justify enduring seven long seasons filled with bitter disappointments for a driver of Charles Leclerc’s immense talent. Despite his proven speed and the growing maturity he has shown over the years, the Monegasque driver has never truly had a realistic shot at the world title across these seven championship campaigns. Time is passing quickly, and Charles Leclerc will turn 28 years old this October. So far, his Formula 1 career has brought him just eight Grand Prix victories—an underwhelming tally that does not fully reflect his exceptional driving ability and growth as a top-level competitor in the sport.
The Ferrari dream
In a recent interview given during the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend, Charles Leclerc spoke openly with Sky Italia’s Carlo Vanzini about his lifelong dream and continued motivation: “I drive for Ferrari, and that means so much to me. It is truly an honour to be part of this legendary team, and my number one goal has always been to help Ferrari win. I owe so much to this team—Scuderia Ferrari believed in me from the beginning and gave me the chance to enter Formula 1. Now, the priority is clear: we must win.”
Not tempted by rivals’ success
Charles Leclerc made it clear that he has no intention of switching teams or seeking success elsewhere, even as rivals find themselves on the top step of the podium more frequently: “I am not indifferent to the victories achieved by Max Verstappen or by Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris with McLaren,” he said, referencing the dominant form of Red Bull Racing and the resurgence of McLaren. “But what really matters to me is bringing Ferrari back to the top. I will do absolutely everything I can, alongside Frederic Vasseur, Lewis Hamilton, and all the talented people at Ferrari, to try and win again. That is my one and only obsession,” Charles Leclerc concluded, reaffirming his unwavering commitment to the team and to the dream that has driven him from the very beginning.
